In summary

Goddard State Memorial Park offers an affordable golfing experience with a nice layout and well-maintained greens, making it a suitable choice for beginners and those seeking a budget-friendly option. However, many visitors express dissatisfaction with the overall condition of the course, particularly the fairways and sand traps, and report negative interactions with some staff members. Additionally, restrictions on golf cart availability and slow pace of play are noted concerns.

Unplayable. I played the first two holes. The fairways are dust and the greens are overgrown with crabgrass. They refused a refund.

It is really a stretch to call this a golf course. The facility started the season in very good condition. Now it is nothing more than a mowed hayfield, grass less tee boxes and barren or weed overgrown greens. Only plus is the cost, but you should spend more and go to a better course.

That lady Jen who works in the club house is a miserable mean and nasty person, she’s rude and acts like she owns the place, No Class

20yrs ago I could go there and use the restroom in the club house, the concession stand was available for coffee and a muffin, some golf tees, the TV was on..it was nice. That atmosphere dwindled and then covid rules put a nail in the coffin. Trailer and portajohn welcome you now. Fee for a non senior on a sat is $20 walking and no break on back 9 (same 9). Sr rate doesn't apply until 65 so it's not really a bargain for me to play off of mostly clover. The layout is nice and the bunkers guarding greens make up for lack of water hazards. I mostly go out of memories playing there with my dad and…

For a state golf course, they need an education in operating one. They don't allow carts out after 12 pm because they close at 3:00pm even on a 75 degree November day. I was told I would have known that if I called for a "T" time. Place was dead. Until they improve their attitude and customer service, find another course.

I have golfed here a lot. Early in the season and if it is a rainy summer the fairways are pretty good. There is no irrigation to water them. The greens are always in good shape. There has been no maintenance to the sand traps. Weeds and crab grass is prevalent throughout all traps. The rough off the fairways has a strange way to eat up your ball. It always is hard to find your ball, so stay in the fairways :-). The price is $15 for weekday and $20 for weekend, which is good (Senior price is even better). You can usually get a tee time within 30 minutes of when you want to play.

Rude people working there. The condition of the course is awful compared to any other course. But, most importantly, they won't let you get a riding cart after 1pm (website says noon). So out of touch. Please don't waste your time.

I've been playing golf at Goddard Park for over 30 years and the course is in the worst condition it's evere been in. The tee, fairways and especially the greens are completely gone from neglect, lack of care and poor or no maintenance. I blame the management of DEM they were entrusted with the care of this Rhode Island Jem and they failed to protect and care for it and should be held accountable.

Played on 9/1/22 with my daughter and my 2 grandsons. We all had an enjoyable experience. The regular players, behind us, were very patient and understanding. Nice layout with some lengthy holes. The condition of some tees and fairways was very bad. Hitting off dirt and difficult to find a spot nearby to place ball. We need rain!!! Rates are for 9 holes and you need to pay again if you choose to play a second 9(green fees plus cart). Kind of steep price for condition. Lost a Callaway 3 wood headcover on early holes. Hopefully someone found it and will turn in to starter shack. Bottom line is w…

They denied me a golf cart at 3:40, even though they say carts are available to 4. I would’ve still golfed here but the woman that worked the cart cage was making rude remarks and raised her voice after I was told to ask her for a cart. It was so rude that the other employee apologized to me when I asked for my money back. Ive golfed here before and met wonderful staff, but i am afraid to return to the course with that specific lady working. A shame because it’s a nice course and I’ve usually had great experiences. EDIT: Changing my review to 4 stars because the staff should not be represente…
