Fort Hays Municipal Golf Club is frequently praised for its excellent course conditions, scenic layout with elevation changes, and historical setting, offering great value for its price. The staff is generally described as friendly and accommodating, though there are occasional criticisms about management's handling of weather-related issues and interactions with members. Had a great time playing here along my cross-country road trip. Beautiful course, surprisingly hilly for Kansas! Great condition and quick pace of play. I also left my putter cover in the golf cart, and the manager shipped it to my new address for me! Super considerate and did not need to do that for me. Worth a visit !

The conditions of this course are on par with some that cost three times as much. An absolute gem of a Muni and one of the best bang for your buck courses I’ve ever played.

Five Star for 37 dollars including cart for 18! The greens and fairways were in top shape, and this course had quite a bit of elevation change and was very scenic with trees, creeks, and ponds. A great stop on a golf road trip off of i-70 and a great course to have for your home course if you're a local.

Excellent course in great condition plays very long and for one of the best price to values I’ve played, varying difficulty in holes makes for a good challenge. I’ll be back any time I’m in town.

I’ve had several poor experiences here, but after yesterday evening, I won’t be returning. They don’t offer rain checks for 9 holes, even if you’ve only played one. This would be understandable if clearly stated at the time of purchase or on the city’s website, but it’s not, and that’s because other golfers have been offered rain checks. Regardless, what’s not acceptable is being encouraged to “risk it” and keep playing a few more holes in lightning and dangerous weather. The manager proceeded to hit a few practice balls as we were leaving. To prove a point? I’m not sure, but Hays was in a thu…

Beautiful public course! Just played during a busy weekend and staff was on top of things even with so much going on. Enjoyed learning the history surrounding the course. Reasonable rates. Good layout…has some challenging holes but easy ones too. Pro shop went out of their way to make us feel welcomed.

I played here on memorial weekend. the golf course was in really good shape and the pro shop was very friendly, we even got a talk about the history of the course. but friendly stopped there. I have played all around the country I thought I was playing in New York or California the group in front of us blocked the cart path on nine going to ten so we had to wait for them at the club house and not even a acknowledgment that we were there. Even the Marshall just looked like he was a very unfriendly person we said hi and we got a glare from him overall it seems like the people from Hays are not s…

Lived in Hays back in the 1980’s and hadn’t played this course since then. Wow! They have improved everything so much since then. The course is in great shape, and very reasonable green fees. I’ll definitely be back.

Course was in great shape and greatly exceeded my expectations. Course isn’t long but if you don’t hit fairways you’re in for a long day. Will be back.

No matter how many times I place this course, it always plays different. Always a challenge. It’s a 6.5 of 10 on difficulty so not so hard a beginner can’t play, but challenging enough for serious golfers. Prices are fair.

Have played many pro courses, but this course will always hold a place in my heart as it was the course in the mid 80's that I made my first birdie on a long par 5. Then of course, I went back immediately to bogey golf which is my legacy)
