In summary

Waterton Lakes Golf Course is highly praised for its stunning mountain views and classic Stanley Thompson design, providing a picturesque and enjoyable golfing experience. Many visitors appreciate the friendly staff, well-maintained greens, and the charming, historic clubhouse with good dining options. However, some golfers have noted issues with dry fairways, inconsistent course conditions, and occasional slow pace of play, which can detract from the overall experience. Despite these concerns, the course remains a popular destination for those seeking scenic beauty and a challenging layout.

Played: August 25, 2025 My first experience at Waterton Lakes Golf Course, about 25 years ago, was less than ideal. We played on an extremely cold and windy fall day, which made for a miserable round. Despite the challenging conditions, we were captivated by the stunning scenery and vowed to return one day for a second shot. This time, we were blessed with nearly perfect weather: sunny, warm, and with only a light breeze. Waterton Lakes Golf Course is a truly special place. Be aware that the course's highest point is at an elevation of 1,330 meters (4,365 ft), so if you're not used to the thin…

"What a beautiful golf course! The fairways and greens were in top-notch condition, making our tournament an absolute pleasure. A big thank you to the staff for their warm hospitality and the delicious buffet dinner — it was the perfect way to end the day. We’ll definitely be back!"

Beautiful views. A lot of work has been done to bring this course back to life. On Hole 13 We saw a brown bear rolling around on the fairway I can't wait to play it again

This is a well-maintained and groomed course with some challenges and amazing views throughout the course, so if your round doesn't go well, you'll enjoy the experience regardless. After a mid-morning round we had lunch at Stanley's BBQ Grill House where the food was good (my wings were great!) and the service fast and friendly. My only disappointment is that we didn't get to see a bear on the course. :-)

Its beautiful here. The mountain views are phenomenal. The course is nothing special, not bad at all though, but it's priced really well. No driving range that I could see. Clubhouse and pro shop on site. Great food in the clubhouse for lunch after an early round. You won't be wowed by anything other than the scenery but you definitely won't be disappointed in the course and experience. Worth a visit.

We did a quick afternoon 9 holes here on our trip to Waterton and it was beautiful! We had our kiddos with us which could make or break any experience but it was just so peaceful with the mountains surrounding us and all the fresh air. The greens were nice and the course was a good mix of easy and more challenging holes. The price was reasonable too.

I have revisited this course last week and it seems since management being changed, course shape being very much changed dramatically. I have been golfing this course four years and the condition of fairway and surroundings being dramatically change. I loved this course and witnessed that course watered in the morning and afternoon which we did not see on this year. It cause fairway is way to dry and too hard to hit the shot. It was way too dry. Green was ok shape though.

This course is so under rated. The new management that has been in place over the last few years have really turned things around. Awesome to see such an amazing, unique, historical, fun golf course, finally get some love that it really deserves. If you like golf, it's worth the trip to Waterton alone. The course conditioning has improved 10 fold, so kudos to the Superintendent and Turf care team. The food and the staff in the restaurant are great. The Head Pro and golf shop team are friendly and make you feel welcome. The whole experience is how golf should be. Picturesque, old school, mounta…

What a beautiful course! Incredible views, nice greens, lovely staff at the club house and we had to hire clubs coming from Australia and they offered a great set.

We had a fantastic experience golfing the back nine at Waterton Park Golf Club on my birthday. The course is set against absolutely stunning scenery—mountains, lakes, and fresh air made for a memorable round. The layout was both fun and challenging, with just the right mix of elevation, hazards, and variety to keep things interesting. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and we appreciated the relaxed, laid-back atmosphere. Bonus points for the great snacks—perfect for refueling mid-round. All in all, a wonderful way to spend a special day. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Waterton and lo…

Stunning views, great condition, and a chill staff. They had a great deal for juniors in the afternoon, which meant it was cost friendly. Will definitely come back.
