In summary

The Ferns Golf & Country Club is often praised for its beautiful and challenging course layout, featuring well-maintained greens and scenic, tree-lined fairways. Many visitors appreciate the friendly staff and management, highlighting the course as a hidden gem with a tranquil setting. However, some guests have noted issues with the lack of facilities, such as a proper clubhouse, and occasional management interactions that detracted from their experience. Additionally, the pricing is considered high by some, given the limited amenities.

Stunning and challenging course, with beautiful treelined fairways. The manager Pam is extremely friendly and the owner Harold cares deeply about his well maintained course. A hidden gem!

Excellent course and some of the best use of landscape I've seen. Being from Toronto and cottaging in markdale for years makes this my go to course when away. Plays and look like my home course "pheasant run" If you love long sweeping fairways and gorgeous century old treelined courses this is a gem!

Great golf, for the price. Walking the course is a challenge and a couple of the holes are a few hundred meters from each other. Overall, very fun and exciting course.

Ok, this is a tough one. Really enjoyed the course, and truly felt like my wife and I were alone on the course. There were others but very spread out. The course is nicely challenging, with some tight tee shots, but most open to wide fairways. The front nine has some water that requires some placement, but not too evil. The fairways are mostly generous, and greens are well sized. The greens rolled true, but seemed a little too slow for my taste. The course is well maintained, but these are not pristine fairways. This is a north ontario, out of the way establishment. They (he) does a pretty goo…

This place has so much potential. Beautiful views, challenging holes, etc. needs some TLC with better mowing, aerating, signage to know where you are going, garbage pick up. I hope the owners keep upping the game and turn it into a top notch resort that it has the potential to be. Plan to head back and give it a go a second time

Beautiful property👍. Its a shame about the lack of clubhouse/facilities but you cant be blamed entirely for that because we know its a township issue😉. As a former golf course manager i know course conditioning comes down entirely to available budget, so hopefully this and other reviews will help increase traffic to your course and eventually the bunkers can have a little more sand and fairways cut more frequently. Tons of potential here ! All the best

Went here on Father’s Day with my family was a nice course but the owner was patrolling the fairways told us to speed up after we were stuck behind another group. He was extremely rude and wasn’t understanding that we weren’t the problem. He then made us skip a hole and kept coming up after every hole saying we needed to hurry up. There was no one behind us and it was extremely frustrating and ruined our entire day. Will never go back!

Great staff and management. The course though hilly in n some spots, offers the right level of challenges for the amateur as well as the adept golfer. The rates are very reasonable and there are great offers for long and short term memberships. You can also phone and order refreshments and they will deliver it to you on the course. I highly recommend this course.

Great course, great people, beautiful scenery! The course is very forgiving, as they keep the grass cut between holes, (It's nice to only lose 1 ball all day). Challenging but cool island green on hole 2. Some holes play a little tough, but overall a good challenge. Wasn't busy at all when we played, makes for a great day.

Over priced , course is not kept up . Worst part the grounds keeper decided to lose his mind on us on the 18th hole . He went on and on for at least three minutes about how close we parked to the last green . We were 35 feet away from the green . He accused us of doing it throughout the round but then stated he didn’t see us do it . We are 52 year guys who play golf numerous times a week, we know the rules . Will never be back.

First time at the coarse and it was beautiful but I didn’t enjoy the 5 + minute lecture on cart etiquette prior to tee off. Made me feel as if I was 15 and I had never driven a cart when I’m a 34 year old man who’s golfed half his life. Other than that, fantastic coarse and challenging play.
