What People Say

In summary

Sycamore Creek Golf Course is appreciated for its interesting layout and potential, with some visitors highlighting its scenic views and challenging design. However, many reviews express concerns about the deteriorating condition of the course, including overgrown areas, poor maintenance, and lack of staff presence. While some have experienced well-maintained greens and friendly staff, others are disappointed by the decline from its former status as a well-regarded private club.

Worst golf course I've played around here, weeds all through the fairway, hard as a rock, greens wouldn't hold at all. It looked like somebody's back yard. They did have some interesting holes and some nice views through the whole course but the condition of the course was absolutely terrible and I don't see myself ever going back unless they figure out how to take care of their grass. Highly recommend avoiding this course and instead going to valley view, they never disappoint there and it's only a few minutes away from this backyard golf course.

(Update! Course is open again for 2020.)Stopped in today for a round but no one was home. Looks like it hasn't been touched in a few weeks. Looking pretty rough all around. Sign on the door said closed Oct 13th. I went ahead and walked it just to check the course layout. Absolutely loved it. I really hope they open this course again next year and give it the time and attention it deserves. Beautiful property, hope I get to actually play a good round.

Written in 2018/19. New ownership has done a great job transitioning from a private country club to a public course. Course conditions have been maintained (always a strong point of this course). Layout is fun, with a more difficult back nine than front. Beverages are available in the pro-shop, but no food service yet. Still a work in progress, and wish them all the luck. One of the best courses in north central Ohio. We drive from Mansfield to play, but worth the drive. Update: 2021 It just breaks my heart to see what became of the old, wonderful Galion Country Club. I guess I was too opti…

Nice layout, challenging track, used to be a private club. Greens are recovering from the wet Ohio weather. No food or clubhouse but you can buy beer in the pro shop. Course has high potential if new owners are smart.

To date I have only played 9 holes. I like the layout. course built in 1927 small greens very nice greens. I hit 7 drivers on the front 9 lol. Course wet today from all the rain so a fair review is yet to come.

It's a disaster. I belonged here when it was still the Galion CC and it was a beautiful track to play. I still play it from time to time as I have a lot of good memories there. It's sad to see it in the condition it is. Traps are arguably waste bunkers. The teeboxes are in worse shape than most peoples yards. The greens are beginning to deteriorate with the rest of the course.

Same lady that ran pine lakes into the ground is running this course into the ground as well. She has no clue what she's doing. Very sad to see the way she takes care of this course. They shouldve never brought her in from pine lakes. Worst decision ever made. She's very rude.

This course is way overpriced. No work being done on the course. Looks like they are trying to milk ever last dollar out of it before closing down. Sad to see a past nice course in this shape.

One of the best kept courses in north-central Ohio! Very underplayed and well worth it! Weekdays 18 and cart is only $30.

Hmmm...I don’t understand what is going on here. I’ve been to the place several times. NO ONE is there!? The course is ready but looks (the buildings) abandoned otherwise. No one even answers the phone!! No cars in parking lot. Their FB page not helpful either.... So what’s happening here??

Great track, but clearly the current owner has stopped caring for it. Shame the community didn't better support it. Will miss it when it's gone
