Very nice course with some challenging holes. Lots of hazards to include trees, water and some unusual sand traps. The dirt is very fine. Squirrels, cranes, geese and ducks on the course. You will be in for a surprise with the trains that are very close to the course. A very good price. They do rent clubs and golf carts. The fairways are well kept and the greens are well maintained. They have a cart service that comes around. Food and drinks are available at the club house.

0/5 Stars – The Course Deserves 5, the Ranger Deserves None The course itself? Absolutely beautiful. Greens rolled true, fairways were perfect, and the layout was a joy to play. Unfortunately, our round was ruined by the world’s most obnoxious, power-tripping ranger. This guy must think his cart comes with a badge and a gun, because he patrolled like we were fugitives instead of paying customers. Constant interruptions, unnecessary attitude, and zero people skills. Instead of making sure golfers enjoyed their day, he seemed determined to make it miserable. If management cares about repeat cus…

Great course hidden just out of town in Sparta, WI. Great combination of long, short, water and wooded holes. A definite must play.

First time there was bad experience one of the staff lady’s was extremely unprofessional, extremely rude and disrespectful the other one at the front desk was great, the first one needs to find a job that’s a not customer service industry job

For a public course, top notch! The golf pro/manager is super friendly and the course is always in great shape with greens which receive the ball softly.

As a group of four, we were admittedly playing at a relaxed pace but certainly not holding up the course in any significant way. However, the ranger approached us in a confrontational manner, demanding that we play at an unreasonable speed of 8 minutes per hole. Rather than handling the situation with professionalism or understanding, the ranger argued with me, creating an uncomfortable experience for our group. This lack of respect and customer service solidified our decision to avoid this course going forward.

I recently played a round at Sparta Golf Course and had a mixed experience. The course itself is well-maintained, with lush fairways and challenging greens. The layout offers a good variety of holes that cater to different skill levels, making it an enjoyable course for golfers of all abilities. However, my experience was marred by the behavior of the course ranger. Unfortunately, the ranger was extremely rude and unprofessional, which significantly detracted from what could have been a pleasant outing. His attitude and interactions with our group were unnecessarily harsh and unwelcoming, ove…

Updating my previous review of River Run from a few years back. Still one of my favorite courses around. The course was in great condition and even a touch soft even tho it hasn't rained much recently. Obviously, they're still watering into the late season. Perfect time to get a round in!

The course pro was very unfriendly and unprofessional. It followed us around right from hole one. We showed up 20 minutes before tee time. He made us wait why he finished eating. Stating he wasn't suppose to start work for 5 minutes. We had 3 tee times cause we had 10 people. Softball team. We let a group of 2 tee off before us that had the tee time right after us. So we didn't hold them up. This guy proceeded to harass us the whole day. We were 3 hours and 25 minutes in on hole 17. We he came shouting at us saying we are slowing the whole course up and we had been golfing for over 4 hours. Th…

Surprising municipal course that is a hidden gem. This was a fun course. The first 4 or 5 holes were ok and felt pretty open like a municipal...then you get back by water areas and round the back nine that is much more woodsy. The greens were in great shape this early in the season and the course was overall cut well. The course play was overall pretty nice. The pro shop was meh/small and the clubhouse was ok. Driving range was a little short. The surprise was the landmark of the children's cemetery to pay respects to history. Overall, great stop and worth the play.
