In summary

River Greens Golf Course in Avon Park, Florida, is praised for its challenging layout, well-maintained greens, and friendly staff, making it a favorite for many golfers in the area. The course's narrow fairways and numerous water hazards provide a unique and enjoyable experience, while the clubhouse offers a variety of food and drink options. However, some visitors mention issues with the cart paths and occasional slow pace of play, as well as concerns about unregistered golfers on the course.

This course is very challenging as it is especially narrow. An older course with a lot of large trees helps add to the challenge. The greens are in excellent shape and very fast. There are few dry spots on the Fairways, but overall, they are pretty good. Great prices and all the staff are friendly, which is a rarity in central Florida. I would definitely recommend putting this on your list of courses to check out.

Well-kept, challenging, reasonably priced, and great pace of play. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and count this as our favorite course to play when we come to Central Florida.

One of my favorite courses in area, Find 9th challenging , anything hi on side hill runs into lake.. maybe let grass grow longer near lake to stop balls. Also some pin placement on slope of these already tough greens seem unfair , at least for this guy. All that said , it's a great place to play.

Each time I played this course the conditions were good with decent fairways and quicker greens that were smooth and rolled out nicely. Bar room staff friendly too. Enjoy the treck.

Highly recommend a visit to River Greens. Course is in excellent shape with great greens (very slopey). Front nine less enjoyable than back nine due to proximity of roads - some frightening tee shots 🫣. Last four holes out by the lake were great fun and a serious test in the strong winds!!

The cart path definitely needs to be updated it has holes the size of basketballs. The people cutting the grass need to do a better job getting the globs of grass they leave, laying around.

What a great track... Good greens and challenging holes. Some short holes but can still eat your lunch if you don't hit it straight.

The Sebring, Florida area has a number of interesting golf courses in the area, but nothing as unique as River Greens Golf Club. River Greens Golf Club is located in Avon Park, FL and was originally designed by Jack Kidwell. The course opened in 1969 and can be played from as far back as 6,400 yards or as short as 4,200 yards with a number of choices in between. The course is in tremendous shape and the TifEagle greens are absolutely amazing. They look great and roll fast and true. Water comes into play on about half the holes. Several of the water hazards are not visible and, unless you kno…

First time playing it. Enjoyed it most of the time. I look forward to playing the course again now that I've seen it. Playing the holes around the pond is a bit challenging. The placement of your drive on these 3 holes is critically important. You'll see what i mean if you choose to play here. I would recommend the course.

The scenery on this course is beautiful, however when we arrived we asked the Pro Shop about the course and what kind of shape it was in. He said it was in “great shape” neglecting to tell us they were thatching the greens. Big loud green tractor followed us around the front 9 while we played. If we had known they were working on the course we would not have played. Perhaps a Ranger could do a quick run out once in a while to stop people from scooting around the course taking pictures of the wildlife as well.
