In summary

Portland Country Club receives mixed feedback from visitors. Many appreciate the friendly staff, reasonable pricing, and improvements under new ownership, noting that the course offers a good challenge for beginners. However, several reviews highlight issues with course maintenance, such as poor greens and fairways, inadequate signage, and inconsistent mowing, with some suggesting alternative courses nearby for better conditions.

Nice 18 hole course. Wonderful for the not so long hitter. Greens are pretty good.Love the elevated greens. Some fairways need work. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Update 5-1-25 They need better signs for some holes. Difficult to find. Greens and tee boxes need work.

I was in a of 6. We were playing best ball, waiting on the group ahead of us. Every hole we asked if the group of 2 behind us wanted to pass us. They said “we will be waiting on the group ahead of you so it’s fine”. An old man with white hair came up to us and said we had to split up, even though we were right behind a group. Not to mention that the course is in terrible condition. Will never play there again. Go twenty minutes each way and have a way better course either Geneva or Albany.

Course needs lots and lots of help. I lost six new balls in the fairways. Need to mow more than just the holes by the highway. It’s misleading because once you cross 200 South things are untouched. Same every year. Starts out nice then the grass gets 4 inches tall in the fairways and I will not discuss the “rough”. About to stop going there Tee stations are 3-4 inches as well

Played there over the weekend and up there ranked as one of worst courses around. All greens are unplayable, no signs of where to go for the next hole and some holes actually play over the access road to the club house. This is what you call a cow pasture and that's being generous.

Haven't been there so the review is based on their website alone. I checked their website to see about possible job openings in their landscaping and maintenance. I didn't see a section set aside for employment at all which was unfortunate. It is easy to navigate and seems to include all other options needed. Just no careers options.

Golf here often. Only gave 4 stars because the layout is kind of goofy. Overall condition is pretty good and it offers some unique holes. Great price and is very well kept.

Worst course I've played on all year. There's no difference between the rough and the fairway, and most of the grass is dry and dead. Greens are cracked (literal fissures in the ground) and unpredictable. Waste of money and would never go there of my own free will again.

Only gave a star because u have to give at least 1 to post review.Played may 11th, dont think they had mowed all year, and still charged full price. Can u say goat ranch. Called and reserved tee time day before and she failed to mention course conditions, greedy. Wont b back until at least August, hope they got course back under control by then, or at least can be honest if I call.

A little run down. Hours aren't posted online and they hold events every single day. But they don't post them online so... tried to golf the last three days and every day the course was closed to the public.

New ownership has made vast improvements and the club is clearly headed in the right direction! You can enjoy 9 or 18 holes, up to you!
