In summary

Shadow Lake Golf Course is appreciated for its friendly and hospitable staff, as well as its scenic countryside setting. However, many visitors express concerns about the course's maintenance, citing issues with artificial greens, poor cart paths, and overall deterioration. While some enjoy the course's affordability and challenging layout, others are disappointed by its current condition and suggest improvements are needed.

I really enjoyed my time at Shadow Lake. The owner was incredibly friendly which made the start of the day great. I found the course itself just beautiful. The scenery and ambiences of the course were amazing. The holes were challenging yet fair. Some of the greens needed some maintenance, yet owner let me know ahead of time so it wasn't a problem to me. I certainly plan to go back anytime I am in the area (usually for my nephew's fishing tournaments!)

I drove by this past weekend and was so disappointed to see that it is closed and basically looks abandoned. It looked like a lot of large trees had been cut down as well. This was a beautiful course that we used to play. What happened? 😞

Clubhouse disaster roof is rotting, power lines hanging down 5 ft of ground from wind damage. No attempt has been made to fix anything, cart paths are dangerous some sink holes bridges are mostly broken and dangerous carts are wore out. I would not recommend this golf course to anyone due to the dangerous condition. Greens are some kind of plastic the whole place is a accident looking for a place to happen.

It's not great if you want great greens for putting. The back 9 is in better shape than the front 9. It is great if you love a great view of the countryside, don't want to be rushed by other golfers on a crowded course, and like to have fun. The fairways were in good shape. The staff is incredibly hospitable and kind - that goes a long way with me. Update: unfortunately greens are worse now. Instead of grass it’s astroturf. I hope the owner gets some cash flow soon, so he can fix the place up.

Don't waste your time. Played it for several years and it was fun, unique course. Now it's run down, the price is higher ($50 for cart and 18) and there are articficial greens that aren't installed correctly and they only take up about half the space of the previous greens. If you are in the area I recommend driving a litle further to Dream Valley in Buffalo, MO.

-5 stars would be par for this course. Paid $45 for 18 holes. Played 9 and left. This course would compete for worst golf course in America. Looks like it’s abandoned. Yes, we are idiots for even trying it.

Played this course over the weekend. With a 8:30AM Tee Time on a holiday weekend I expected a steep green fee. $37 wasn’t bad but after we started playing I realized it wasnt even worth that much. First drive I took was a line drive straight down the fairway & I was never able to find it. The fairway grass had to be 3-4 tall. I spent more time looking for balls on the fairways than anything else all day. Luckily it really wasn’t that busy considering the holiday weekend so we were able to continually search for our balls. Save your time & spend a little more somewhere else. It’ll be worth it.

rated it four stars because customer service goes a long way with me and they were friendly and helpful corse itself could use some work the cart path is part paved and part dirt. prices were great I'm still a beginner and didnt feel like I was being judged out there was just left alone to practice.

Fun course to play if your on an extreme budget. Course can be challenging but be prepared to lose some golf balls. However the greens are horrid and sometimes I can't tell the difference between the fairway and the rough.

The owners were wonderful. Told us upfront about some of the issues with the course. They were working hard to get everything in shape. Beautiful area and hopefully over time will work out nicely.

Golf carts are old and had to pull choke out every stop, cart paths are in deplorable shape and paying $37 dollars on Sunday for a course that was in that bad of shape. Owner told us after we paid they just aerated, if we would of known that we would of went elsewhere

So sad! New owner cut down EVERY tree! Horrible artificial greens and $35 for 9 holes. I'll never go back!
