In summary

McDonald Hills Golf Course is often praised for its affordability, scenic layout, and friendly staff, making it a popular choice for both locals and visitors. The course is described as having a unique and challenging design, with well-maintained fairways and a welcoming atmosphere. However, some visitors have noted that the greens can be slow or in less-than-ideal condition, and a few have mentioned that the tee boxes are hard. Despite these occasional issues, many golfers appreciate the value and experience offered by the course.

Greens were slow from being aerated not too long ago staff did not tell me… also the tee boxes are hard as a rock you need to bring a hammer to get your tee in the ground. You can definitely tell it use to be a nice course but they definitely let it go over the years. The driving range is pretty nice though. Needless to say we won’t be back staff was rude not directional at all… go to Graysburg hills if you want a good course and friendly staff.

$25 to play 18 on the weekend? Can’t really beat that price. Some of the greens are in rough shape. Beautiful course.

We really enjoy the golf course. It’s a great place to play. The staff is very friendly and helpful with everything. We drive an hour and 15 minutes to play at Rogersville because we like it that much. We come out of Knoxville at Least a month to the course. The prices are great better than any course that I have played. We look forward to going back many more times.

Great course for the price, we'll be back soon. Updated April 2023: this is one of my favorite courses in the area. I live in Morristown, TN and we've lost 3 public 18 hole courses in the last few years so there's no public 18 hole courses within 10 to 15 miles. We have a small 9 hole course and 1 overpriced private country club. My son and I try to play once a week so choices are now limited but McDonald Hills has become our go to course. The only thing that's not good, it takes us almost an hour to get there. There's closer courses but this is my personal favorite. The layout is great and th…

Local family owned! Great folks! They have improved this place over the years and now a great and challenging place to play. Of course most are challenging to me as I'm about an 8 handicap. 😁 But.. they've even tried to help me improve that! There great folks! And great golf experience.. for our small town.

This is a little gem of a course. The staff are friendly and the rates are reasonable. The fairways are forgiving and there are many mature trees to challenge you. We are going back tomorrow!

use to play here and didn't like it. But with the owners now trying to keep the course in good shape and have a great attude to the players I enjoyed playing this difficult course. Figuring out where to place the ball on each shot from tee to green is critical.

My husband has been trying to teach me how to play golf for a few months now. I really didn't realize exactly how much there was to learn. And there is A LOT to learn about golf. There is different clubs, swings, stance, ETC.... So I usually just head toward the driving range to practice and see how far the ball will go. For the most part I hit the ball as hard as I can and picture someone or something that has made me mad, sad, or frustrated. I love it because it is a good stress reliever.
