In summary

Kirbywood Golf Club offers a charming layout with a mix of a 9-hole course and a 9-hole par 3 course, appreciated for its friendly staff and peaceful setting without surrounding houses. While the clubhouse receives positive remarks, several visitors express concerns about the course's maintenance, including rough greens, lack of cart paths, and inadequate signage. There is optimism about improvements under new management, though some find the current conditions and operational issues, such as unclear opening hours and congested play, to be significant drawbacks.

I like this course. The people are incredibly nice. It's a 9 hole so you play it twice. They also have a 9 hole par 3 course. I have played here since the beginning of December and the course keeps getting better. Under this management the course will keep getting better and better.

Course has a lot of potential. Club house is beautiful. First 4 holes are great. Holes 5,6, and 7 are pretty much on top of each other that it creates a safety hazard (seriously what designer puts the tee boxes for one hole literally on top of the previous green that you have to bomb a hit over a lake to reach). 7 minute "start" times on the weekends is a big issue especially when it's a course you play twice. Makes the course super congested. We had the group behind us bombing tee shots on top of us while we were halfway down the fairway. If they want to have tee times that close then they ne…

Man this place has potential to be a decent golf course if they put some money into it. Has 9 regular holes and 9 par 3 holes. Can’t speak on the par 3 holes as I only played the regular 9. But the greens were incredibly rough. Some of the fairways are tore up from hogs. The place needs to be mowed. Doesn’t look like there is a regular grounds crew that maintains the place. There are a few holes with some very peaceful and nice views. The carts are old and beat up. Had to push start mine cart #13 a few times just to get going. Some rough paths in the back of the course. Hope they can improve t…

9 holes that you play twice but the course is in great shape and the greens add a nice challenge!

Never lost so many balls in my life! If you hit OB your ball is GONE! There is NO fringe along the fairway. It's fareway or woods and green or woods. Either keep it on the fairway or the green, if you're ball goes long; forget about it. It's GONE! Good luck and fair play. Just an FYI the cart path is rougher then most trails at an ATV mud-park. Other than that it's a nice golf course.

I really enjoyed this course. I grew up golfing in Utopia TX a small 9 hole course and this course took me back to the hill country for a couple hours!

Does anyone know when this public course is actually open??? I saw good reviews and the Web site says they're open on a Thursday afternoon yet no one answered the phone. Well, I figure they might be busy so I make the semi-quick trip over here only to find a ghost town! Maybe they should be as professional as they try to appear and update their website and hours of operation. Might save a few of us time and fuel since there aren't a lot of options around this area. I would've driven a different direction and actually got to play, had I known!

Live in the neighborhood and this is the fourth time I have gone to play on a nice day during listed business hours and the course is closed with no explanation. Also one of the reasons why I haven't purchased a membership.

Played this course 9/27/25 and adding to my previous review. Kudos to the new management. The course has improved considerably. A nice turnaround. Tee boxes have grass and are relatively clean. The fairways are filling in nicely. There are some bare spots here and there still but mainly along the sides. The most of the greens are all filled in and are beautiful. A few more sandings shoudl even out the bumpy spots.Large with lots of contour. I think that by next year this will be an excelelnt condition course. Note to owner: provide little boxes at the tees to discard broken tees in and smoothi…

They course has a nice lay out and good design. However, the lack of cart path and no distance markers should be addressed. A few more signs directing you to the next hole would help, there is a few points on the course where you can become confused on where to go. All in all it’s a brand new course with challenging greens and super friendly staff. I am sure they will get all the minor issues straight within the next few months.

Not the best. Beautiful clubhouse. Website made it seem like an 18 hole course. 9 hole course. 9 hole par 3 course. Greens are terrible. Maybe after a couple of seasons to grow in if they get proper maintenance. Fairways are the same. Not properly mowed and full of weeds. Course looks in disarray after the storms. Layout is like a maze down ill-kept gravel pathways with inadequate signage. Told my playing partner I could probably make it a great course if I had $2-3 million to spend on it. Won't try it again for at least a year or two, if it survives.
