Hickory Knob State Resort Park & Golf Course is praised for its scenic beauty, well-maintained facilities, and a wide range of activities, including golf, archery, and hiking. The staff is frequently noted for their friendliness and helpfulness, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. However, some visitors mention that the campground sites can be uneven and challenging for larger RVs, and that certain facilities, such as bathrooms, could benefit from updates.

We enjoyed this state park and camped in our RV on site 19. Use caution on the ringroad to access the site. It was a bit washed out and so we had to be careful the RV tires remained on the high spots to prevent our jacks from dragging. The reward was a fairly secluded spot with views of the water. Nice park for bicycling and hiking. Gourgeous golf course, though it was to be closing for renovations May 2026, so double check if that is what your hoping to do. Shower and toilet facilities were close and clean, though a bit dated. Kayak rentals are available. There are some sites that do not requ…

Hickory Knob State Park is a big, beautiful, spacious, clean and well maintained #StatePark, lodge, golf course with plenty to do and see. The park is located in McCormick, SC and sets on the shoreline of Strom Thurmond Lake. A (71,000) acre reservoir. Stayed for a few days and really enjoyed my visit. Could’ve wandered 🚶🏾‍♀️around the park for a week! There were several big family reunions going on at the lodge, the barn, all over the park — seems to be a place families visit quite frequently for different occasions. Great staff and friendly Rangers. Friendly people all over the park. Just a…

Rooms were much better than I expected. We stayed on the lake side and had beautiful views. Great trail which had some minimal damage from Helene left. Really loved the archery too.

This is a great course that is a challenge to play. The fairways can be narrow for some holes and there is plenty of water hazards. The views throughout the course are wonderful. The course is well maintained. There is a putting green, chipping green, and a driving range. The pro shop is well stocked and they serve hot dogs and chicken sandwiches too! I hesitate to sing it's praises lest more discover the course and create a crowd!!! There is a conference center and fine restaurant a little further down the road in the park also along with skeet shooting an a archery range.

We had a great weekend! We rented one of the rooms and it was clean and comfortable. Having dock access for our boat was convenient and allowed us time to enjoy all that Hickory Knob had to offer! We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet!!! Pricing was fair and there was a variety for all of us to enjoy. We'll be back for sure!

Park is beautiful. Lake is big and lots of fishing. Hiking and biking trails were fine. Golf course (not played) looked pretty nice. Everyone was nice. Rooms are in need of a refresh. It’s a park hotel so expectations weren’t high. Shower controls didn’t work and hot water was off or full blast and very hot. Room was otherwise fine.

Rating the campground only.... Sites are very rough. Hard to level, can only fit about 25' campers and not much longer in most. Road through campground in rough shape.Bathrooms clean but in need of improvement. Many sites have a water view through the trees. Dump station hose not working properly. Camp hosts were nice.

We had our own little island. Very private. Large sites. Felt like being in the mountains on a lake. Perfect!

This was our first visit, but definitely not the last. We absolutely loved our campsite with access to the lake. Some of the site are difficult to access for bigger rigs.... luckily we didn't have an issue. Bathhouse was clean, and things were surprisingly quiet for new years eve. We treated ourselves to the New Year's buffet at the park restaurant & it was good. Overall great experience!

Generally stay here 2x per year. Rustic and dated but clean and satisfactory. Nice staff, great gift shop. Restaurant is very good! There is also a very nice golf course and skeet range.

I had stayed at your wonderful resort as part of a Men's Retreat with Chapin Baptist Church, the theme being Iron Sharpens Iron Proverbs 27:17. The peace and tranquility, clean comfortable and relaxing room, outside patio for 2, and fun activities, such as Archery, golf, fishing, Skeet shooting , and what I participated in: axe throwing. I felt little a little kid. Park Rangers and ancillary staff were on hand to see to any needs. Thanks to your awesome staff fot making my spiritual retreat bring me back to the joy of my salvation through the renewing of my spirit. Maybe this is new, but I tru…
