In summary

Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course offers two 18-hole layouts that are appreciated for their challenge and playability, with some visitors praising the course's conditions and affordability. The clubhouse food and staff are generally well-regarded, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. However, recurring criticisms include inconsistent course maintenance, particularly with tee boxes and fairways, and issues with pace of play and management, which some find detracts from the overall experience.

Great local golf course with competitive prices. It took me and my friends about an hour and a half to complete all nine holes. It wasn’t very busy which was nice, we went on a Monday morning while it was raining. It was still a fun experience. I recommend checking it out

Do not play here. I have only played the front 9 of the Black course two times. First time was over a year ago. At that time the course conditions were okay at best. Played here today 4/18/26 and the conditions were atrocious, pace was atrocious, the starter was nice but didn't know what was going on because the girl in the "pro" shop did not seem to know either so communication between them was non existent and they sent out THREE separate groups on to the first tee at the same time causing a three hour 9 holes. Fairways were unkept, greens were covered in debris and extremely inconsistent, t…

Mistakenly left my Blue Tee Player+ speaker on my cart. Immediately called when I got home to inform them I planned to return the next day to pick it up and was told they never found it. Have visited and called multiple times to see if it showed up. Should hold your staff accountable for stealing someone’s property.

The worse course i have every played in my life. Also if you leave anything they say they have it and then once you show up its gone. This course is complete and utter dogwater. Dont play this course if you want to enjoy your time golfing. The teeboxes are a warzone. Make sure to bring a helmet because holy balls are flying at you left and right.

Played here for the first time and had a good experience. Course was in solid condition and pace of play was fine.

Not half as impressed with the Black course as I was with Chris Bargas GC in nearby Shelton that I played the other day. Fairways and greens were both in meh condition. The back 9 is slightly more redeeming in terms of layout but overall underwhelmed with the course.

I’ve been playing the wheel for years, and it’s gone completely down hill. Yesterday we played a 6.2 hour round. It started with no “starter” being present. I went in the pro shop and found the starter, a younger woman, scrolling tiktok with the other two teenagers that run the cash register. I was there 1.5 hours early, she never once came outside, or started anyone. Everyone was confused when they were allowed to tee off so people began taking matters into their own hands including and not limited to fighting over golf cart access. We had to walk into the charging bay and take a cart, after…

The black course is usually a good play. I was a little disappointed at the level of disrepair of some of the tee boxes and one green. Overall it was a good round but I would like to see more care taken with the tee boxes, fairways, green, and paths.

Course is in Ok but not great condition - tee boxes were consistently dirt and gravel in spots. We've had a good amount of rain, so i think they're just not maintaining well. Some of the cart paths are just gravel - overall not an aesthetically pleasing golf course. The greens are fairly nice. My biggest gripe is with the lack of starter and inability to form groups. We played on a sunday as a group of 4 and both in front of us and behind us were groups of 2 who were obviously outpacing us. A starter would not only ensure that tee times are spaced out properly, but would ensure that groups of…

This is a stable of the city of Bridgeport. The Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course (Not related to the high school) is a fantastic golf course which features two challenging and fun 18 hole courses. If you need golf supplies, the pro shop is the perfect place to get them. Looking to grab a snack after the first 9 holes of your game, the snack bar offers a great range of great tasting food. This is a must visit for anybody in Bridgeport looking to play some great golf, or someone visiting in the area

Just played Red course: C+ at best. Not impressed. Tee boxes are in terrible shape, uneven, a couple were teeing on dirt. Considering how much rain we’ve gotten not really sure how thats possible, seeding, sod transfers? No sand in the bunkers. Fairways are ok. Greens ok, little bumpy. And no cart refreshments on Memorial Day is incredibly disappointing.

Fairchild Wheeler is one of those rare public courses that checks all the boxes. The golf is solid—two full 18-hole layouts that offer a good mix of challenge and playability. Well-maintained (other than some of the tee boxes), and you can’t beat the price for what you get. The food at the clubhouse is surprisingly good, and the people—both staff and regulars—make the whole experience feel welcoming and laid-back. If you’re looking for good golf, good food, and good people without breaking the bank, Fairchild Wheeler is the spot.
