In summary

Deer Path Golf Course is highly praised for its well-maintained course, friendly staff, and excellent amenities, including a well-stocked clubhouse and a popular grill. Many visitors appreciate the course's layout and the overall experience, with some noting the course feels more like a country club than a public facility. However, there are occasional criticisms regarding the handling of tee times and the lack of rain checks during inclement weather, as well as some instances of slow pace of play.

Despite open tee times being clearly available on GolfNow, Greg Baeten refused to honor them and couldn’t give us a straight answer. He avoided eye contact, acted unprofessionally, and made us question whether the course values its guests at all. Every other staff member was friendly and welcoming but Greg was completely out of line. When I said I’d gladly take my business elsewhere, he acted like this was the only course in town. Go kick rocks, man you’re really not that important.

Deerpath is a great course if you haven't tried it out yet it's a must. Great staff, great pace, we did 18 holes in 4 hours in a mid-saturday morning. Definitely one of my favs.... course in great shape even with no significant rain in a month.

This course didn’t offer a rain check during a thunderstorm. Not only is this dangerous to patrons who try to golf in these conditions (since they won’t be receiving a refund), but it’s a very shady business practice for the course to retain revenue of prepaid bookings on a day when no one should/can golf.

Was able to secure a same-day tee time. We stayed and played another 9; it was a good time and a GREAT sunset!!

Went to the Range and was treated like a Pro / Brad at cart escorted me to & fro ( I’m on a walker) and Pro Shop Maven Baeton (“BAY - Tun”) was on point w/ golf info and jokes even worse than mine — enjoy this fully renovated jewel in LF ‘s municipal crown …

Amazing staff, Brad, the starter, is the BEST! They always keep the course in good shape. Great food, great staff and all around one of my favorite public courses in the North burbs!!!

Lake Forest is fortunate to have such an incredible public amenity! Deerpath GC feels more like a country club than most other public courses. The club house is well stocked, the grill and outdoor patio provide a great place to relax for lunch and the driving range is good. Not to mention the largest putting green I have ever see.

This is a great course for Lake Foresters, especially Seniors, which i am now! Course is in great condition - good greens - nice practice area!. One request is distance-to-pin golf carts. Beverage/dining service for after golf is excellent - they have a 9th hole call-in for beverages/snacks at turn! It is a local blessing!

I played there December 26, 2019, one of the few courses open. It was a delightful day, 62 F, and the sun was shining. Waiting to Tee off, everyone was friendly and excited to be playing so late in the year. Carts were allowed on the course as the fairways were in great shape. Looking forward to playing there this year.
