In summary

California Golf Course is frequently praised for its beautiful, well-maintained layout, offering a challenging experience with a distinct contrast between the front and back nine. The staff is generally described as friendly and helpful, and the course provides great views at a reasonable price. However, some visitors have reported issues with slow pace of play and occasional staff rudeness, particularly concerning pace enforcement, as well as minor concerns about the condition of carts and restroom facilities.

I have not played at California Golf Course for many years but was pleased to find that it was still the beautiful course I remembered. I was with some old college friends and played a scramble making the day fun rather than one of self pressure. The weather was perfect at first but warmed up on back nine reminding us that it was still a Cincinnati summer. This is a beautiful and challenging course which you will enjoy.

Beautiful course and extremely kind and proactively helpful staff. We had 36 teams and everyone enjoyed their experience. Thank you so much! We can’t wait until next year.

Played it back in the early 1980’s when Kent State All-American Mike Morrow was the Pro there. Enjoyed the course!

While this is normally one of our favorite courses, we had a bad experience with a rude staff member at California. We arrived early for our 8:21am tee time, and tee'd off a little late due to having to wait for a few groups in front of us. We saw during the first few holes there were no groups behind us so we took our time. At the turn one of the Marshals raised his voice at us and rudely told us we need to pick up the pace, we were an hour behind schedule, and they need our cart back for a scramble. And he kept telling us over and over how slow and behind we are and how its going to impact t…

12:30 t-time delayed to about 1pm. No toilets in the clubhouse. Trailer toilets coming "soon". Trailers hould have been here before disabling the indoor plumbing. Who is managing California Golf Course?

The course is fun to play. It's challenging enough for most golfers. It's long and narrow.

Not a bad course, especially for a public one. It is a bit dated, but well taken care of. Challenging holes with only one par 5.

Course itself was in decent shape. The carts though were not. My FIL and I had to switch carts twice. The first cart had a slipping transmission. The 2nd could barely move. Additionally, the starter heckled my group about the pace of play. I time my rounds from start to finish and we made the turn at exactly 2 hours and finished the round at 4:05. There are many better choices in this area for golf, especially given this experience. I don't think I'll be returning any time soon.

One of the best courses around at a reasonable price. Staff always friendly and helpful with great tee boxes and beautiful greens. You also get the greatest view with the reservoirs around the course.

Good course, challenging greens, plays pretty open, had to play back 9 only aince they aerated the greens on the front. Course was in great condition. Not sure why the kitchen was closed in mid April, but not a huge deal for me.
